Default $@#$%& Websense!

Aaarrrgghhh! Stupid Websense is filtering RP.net at my school. I went to research photo styles and decided to start my search at RP.net, but couldn't. And, apparently, my school hired about six more computer nazis(aka "Network Administrators") who, when they get bored, like to hijack kid's computers just to mess with them. They went all out overnight, one day I could get on, and then I coudn't got to 3/4's of the internet.

What the? I wonder if the word "wedgie" in the forums is doing that.

Although, around here, it is the teachers getting in trouble for the contents on the computers, not the students.

I am fearing the day Websense finds this site to be a photo gallery.

The company I work for are always fiddling around with the websense filters - at one stage I could not access Irish Rail Gen from work as it was deemed to fall in the category "adult content"! (Dirty old engines perhaps?). We were barred from from Fotopic (online pictures) for a long time but that is OK for now, though I suspect if too many people spend too much time on there it will be blocked again.
I cannot comment how schools view internet access for their students or how essential it is seen to be as an aid to study, is there a means to put in a request to be allowed access to a particular site?
In my case here I would just have to shut up and put up as having internet access at work is a perk, not a right of the job.

One of my jobs is to assure that people are using the computers I provide for viewing xrays for that purpose only. I am in full agreement with Wemb that internet access at work is a perk, the abuse of that access where I work is sometimes incredible and costs thousands of dollars to fix.
Enjoy it if you have it but if not........don't complain and do your viewing from home.
