Default Thoughts on some shots?

These two shots were taken last November, and I liked their dreary quality, so I submitted them the other day.

This spur has been abandoned for the better part of 10 years, and used to serve the qaurry in the back ground, where the trucks are parked.

I liked this shot because I think it combines the elements of fall with the power of trains...

Any thoughts, opinions, and suggestions to possibly get these in the database would be most appreciated.

Thanks!!

Hey there Chris. Im not a fan of the first one, I just dont think that does much of anything. The second one I do like, and I think that if you make that black and white, it could be a winner (when you fix the cropping a bit). I just dont think the colors are pleasing, and it has a bit of a strange cast to it. Heres what I did with it.

I am not a fan of the first one either but I really like the black and white version Alec did.

I agree, but Alec, I don't think you actually changed the cropping!

The main (only?) reason to blur the background is to put more emphasis on the foreground. Here, the foreground is grass, not really interesting. I suggest cropping from the bottom, so there is more emphasis on ties and rail.
