Where you were standing, because sooner than later all cameras will have internal GPS tagging and they will tag where the camera is, not the subject. Might as well start doing it now if your camera doesn't do it already.

I always tag where the head end of the train is.

I prefer to not have any GPS info attached. I don't always want anyone to know where I was. GPS kind of creeps me out sometimes. I'm using an older phone without it.

They already know where you are, Kent, GPS or not.

Two pins would be ideal, but I prefer to know exactly where the train was.
I don't necessarily want to stand in the same spot as the published photographer.

I think it would be easier to figure out from the map where the train was given the photographer's location than to figure out where the photographer was given the trains location. For example, this shot would not really help me to know where the train was on a map, much more interested in where this was shot from.

If that train wasn't on an easily located big bridge, you would have a hard time figuring out the location. And then there is the complication that quite a few members neglect to disclose which way the train was going.

All the more reason to know exactly where the published photog was, so you can avoid duplicating it. You'll know where the train is when it shows up.

I came from a generation where info sharing (but not to the point of breaching one's privacy) was considered a common courtesy. We would go to so-called "travelogues" where people would give slide (and on rare occasions, video film) presentations of their trips to exotic and fascinating places. The presentations were always accompanied by thorough narratives, and if that wasn't enough the travelers would be available for consulting with after the show. Anyone who just wanted folks to look at their pictures but didn't feel like sharing info would not be invited back. As for cell phones, I get that. I smashed my last one with a hammer 11-12 years ago, only after running over it with the car, stomping on it and throwing it against a brick wall didn't render the desired result. I'll never own another one. Okay, the car has a built-in phone but since OnStar knows where I am at all times tracking the phone would be moot.

We now live in a world where info sharing is an unavoidable intrusion.
Well, there are some possibilities to limit one's disclosures, but then one doesn't get the benefits offered by the many companies who pry.
And I for one share my photo locations. Although it has to be said that no one has any reason to care about my photo locations.

For a posed quartet like this, I wouldn't be surprised to see other photographers shooting shoulder-to-shoulder.

And they used to take one shot and the others were booted for "Similar photo already exists in the database." They probably still do this, but I would say it's a matter of whether or not the same screener sees the shot or they are right next to each other in the queue.
And of course, I've seen people get hot with the site administrators over whose shot "won" to be featured from such an event...
