Not OT, but Chase, because I'm sure you'll read HG's post... where did my dad take this pic in relation to where you were? I cannot figure it out, and it's a small town.

Charles,

Ironically enough, that photo is taken in the same town mentioned in the photo posted by HG. The town is Kenova, located west of Huntington, WV. Positioned near the state border of WV, OH, and KY.

Chase, I believe there is no irony at all, rather, I think that Charles saw the picture and its location, had another picture from the same town, and asked you about the local detail within that town since you had been there. I think you missed his point.

Aside from that, Charles called it a small town but looking at the map, it seems to have a LOT of railroading for a town its size. I can imagine the shots being from completely different parts of town, completely unrelated.

Another reason to railfan alone -- you never have to worry about your back side being pasted all over Railpictures.

Thanks J... you are correct... Chase, I did know they were in the same town, but question was when I look at the spot just over the C&O line, which looks like it must be where my dad took his pick there is nothing but trestle, but in this shot there is a large earthen bank. I'm confused if it is the same place.

(This is a proven fact.)

You are however allowed to clone out the plumber's crack, and/or clone in clothes.

I personally have had a problem with those trying to tell us to turn railroad photography into an "art form." It's fine for them to do so, I welcome it in fact, but what I do have a problem with is that the practitioners of the more "arty" shots, I have found, tend to look down their nose's at others who are shooting more "mundane" shots.
Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG

Nasty. Someone forgot to use the clone tool when processing that image.
