It's completely different.

Using a car as an example:
V8 or V6
Leather or cloth (or vinyl, lol)
AM/FM or AM/FM/Tape, AM/FM/TAPE/CD, navigation, etc (8 track player)
2 door, 4 door

These are options that require physically different components to be installed, which have a higher cost than the "base" system.

Using a DSLR as an exampe, say a Digital Rebel T3i.

The video functionality is built into the sensor, making it work is all done in software, that R&D is already done. It costs a manufacturer nothing more to actually enable it and make it usable to the end user. I am guessing the only difference between one with and one without is a button. It's most likely a button they used for something else prior (like the printer button?). I dont know because I dont have one that does it.

What I am saying is, YOU WILL BUY THAT CADDY, AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!!
