Try 400 ISO F10 1/500+ looks like you just don't have much DOF to me. The more I looked at them its post and not in camera. Shots are fine you just need to more Unsharp Mask?

I don't see that getting better, If its black in a slide it stays black with no detail. Overexposed slides may have a chance.

Thats why Canon L lenses have that Fancy glass and cost is so high! You're buying more then a good built lens.

I shot K200 for years as I only had cloudy days...

I shot K200 for years as I only had cloudy days off work or so it seamed :D how that worked out I don't know. I never was one to worry about it to much, Grain was part of life if one need faster...
