The To24 has nothing to do with site popularity. The photographer links most of his postings to other sites such as Facebook. He's certainly not alone, but he's better at it than most...

First, let me apologize to Spacetrain for hijacking his thread. My fault for digressing. I do think his basic questions about the image under discussion were addressed by those of us who...

I think that's a significantly better edit. It might still get dinged for no light on the nose, but it has much more "pop" than the original. As others have noted, the original looks like it was...

I'm just scratching my head as to why anyone would shoot from this perspective. In my mind, it fails as a documentary photo. It leaves me wanting more detail from the side. In this case, it...

My approach has always been that if you're not paying for the operation, you get what you get from a photography perspective. Since I shoot only steam, I tend to do a lot of private charters. ...

I'll take a pretty GAAT over a soft, leaning, "Look mom, I'm flying!" shot any day.

Thanks Loyd. I was looking at this on my work laptop, which has a crappy, overly bright screen, but the shadows did look overdone. I just didn't want to comment on that based on a questionable...

The lighting really doesn't bother me, but the fence is definitely annoying. The docents at the museum are actually pretty nice and have helped me a couple of times in moving fences out of the way...

Hi Filip,

The samples you provided look very dark, almost underexposed. The darks need to be brightened some and the shadows need to be opened up. Yes, you can say that's "your style" and...

Hi Filip,

Not sure how/why you got banned. It may be that the screeners felt they were not seeing improvement on issues cited in the rejection notices and just decided that you were not making...

Right Carl. That was my point. There really isn't a good shot of this locomotive, but the photographer still elected to press on and try and get an RP submission by making the Waffle House sign...

A slow death perhaps, but definitely not a quick one. :)

I own both types of cameras. I have Nikon D750, D850 and D4 DSLRs, and I recently purchased the new, mirrorless Z6. While I have very...

My first reaction to this:

is that the photo leaves me frustrated. The subject is really the Waffle House sign, not the train. The down-angle is too extreme and I can't see...

Well put.

We're in an age in which popularity is apparently now determined by social media hits, which can so easily be manipulated by narcissistic types. The hell of it is that most (although...
