Soft, or did they hit a wrong button...

I'm wondering what your guys assessment of this shot is. It was rejected as being soft, but I'm not seeing it. Could they have simply hit a wrong button, and meant to use a different rejection...

I'm thinking the rejection is due to the fact that the rest of the scene is so well lit. These silhouette photos typically only "work" for RP when the entire scene is on the darker side...

But I...

Foggy day success?

Anyone has success with getting foggy shots accepted? I’ve trued numerous different photos, of numerous different scenes, but had zero success with them. My latest attempt (posted below) got the...

Unfortunately, yes. It's absolutely possible. I've had photos taken after 5PM be rejected for high sun. And looking back, the rejection was legit. As it seems to be in this case...

I have unfriended a couple of those "blanks" on Facebook for that very reason. It seemed like posting Railpics links was the ONLY thing they did.

Lighting is better, but like Michael said. The framing and composition is all wrong for RP. Cutting off the train with the edge of the frame is almost always a killer.

The first one: Don't even try. Sorry.

The second: It is backlit. I don't see it getting in, either.

Thanks guys. Took your advice and removed space on the bottom and left. Also used an earlier frame where the right side wasn't so "mushy".

Composition?

OK. I seldom feel the need to ask for help in getting a shot accepted, but I am really scratching my head over this one. I have cropped it a couple of different ways, but they don't seem to like any...

First off, the first one looks "fairly" accurate. The second one, not so much. If you have software that will allow you to edit photos in RAW format, I would suggest that you shot in RAW. It allows...

I'm thinking that the first one could "probably" be saved by a little selective shadows/highlights tweek, particularly on the locomotive noses.

I think the second one is not fixable. If the train...

Exactly Mitch! That has been one of my pet-peeves with RP for quite a while. And likewise, if it's "less than good" (shall we say), it STILL shouldn't matter whose name is under the photo. (Another...

Any hope for this one?

http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=1343257&key=9735843

This was hit with Comp/Balance. Is the Comp fixable, or is it a case of "it's an uninteresting shot that we don't want, so we...
