Another PEQ
This one got hit with PEQ:

... but this one made it in:

So what would be PEQ about the first? Or maybe a better question would be "what makes the accepted one - acceptable?". To me there is a natural progression from one to the other.

Hmm ...

Accepted has a futurish-looking (upper 2/3) scene, interesting details. Rejected has a big blank white surface right in your face, hard to get past that. Maybe try tighter? See attached?

Maybe next time not so much an end view, get to the side more and give the worker greater presence? It's a person shot, but a weak one in that regard.

Thanks, J! Didn't even think to crop out the end, it does look a lot better. Couldn't get any more to the side being in a paint booth and crammed as far into a paint closet door as I could get. I wasn't going for a person shot; indeed we were asked to refrain from them in case the employee(s) did not want to be photographed, but by the time I got my turn in the corner he had shown up and begun to work. I politely asked him if he minded being photographed while he worked - stressing that it would not be a close-up - and he said "no problem, fire away".

For what it is worth, I think all the white on the left and the cut off door is the problem.

If you can crop it should get in unless they hate paint booth shots.

I think I'll set it aside, at least for a bit. If I hadn't gone and appealed based on the other booth shot getting in I'd crop it and try again, but I don't want to keep tossing it back at them and getting them all fed up with me. Thanks for the feedback, guys!
