Talk about ugly!
Check this new GG20B for BNSF.

It would look cool with the normal cab but this cab is just creapy,I like the "swoosh" logo though.

jb17kx 11-08-2005 09:32 AM

Yeah, it needs a normal cab. H3 logo is nice...

ssw9662 11-08-2005 11:41 PM

Man, that thing's ugly.

If only they used a regular sized cab...

busyEMT 11-09-2005 02:28 AM

Is it made out of Legos?

It certainly looks that way. It's got an interesting look to it...sort of like a clown car on rails.

SD70MACMAN 11-09-2005 02:44 AM

That looks like crap.

The swoosh would look better in the centre...

kfleeman 11-09-2005 03:41 AM

I sure hope this isn't where railroading is going in the future.

CDTX_2051 11-09-2005 03:51 AM

They don't make 'em like they used to.

bnsf sammy 11-09-2005 04:13 AM

all that vertical piece of metal is to have numberboard lights, and a strobe light. Looks really ugly...

lucky77 11-09-2005 04:36 AM

Yeah, that thing certainly lacks aesthetics that we're all used to. And why the heck did they need to build that cab-ette? It looks ridiculous.

Oh well...

I don't know if the collective group of people known as railfans have ubbed a nickname for this thing yet, but myvote is for calling it the Outhouse...

I cannot view the image because its a member only section, will somebody please upload it as an attachment so the rest of us may view it?

Pat Lorenz 11-09-2005 04:34 PM

nerer mind, i found a picture of it, it looks very wierd but i guess the idea behind switching units is function not looks. But i still would have left the 1/2 cab out of the design.

Heres another link for people not subscribed to trains.

WilliamDiehl 11-09-2005 05:27 PM

should have deffinatlly left the cab off.....lord...I hope UP's at least have regular cabs.

canadianrailfan 11-10-2005 04:24 AM

i didn't know what you guys were talking about untill the website finally loaded (dial-up). but now that i see what that thing looks like, they look like total crap, why the heck did BNSF order them without cabs, and why is part of the cab still there? that makes it look ten times worse!

J 11-10-2005 12:44 PM

These units will be operated via remote control so the operator will only occasionally be riding the unit. The cab contains various control equipment. Shippers and shareholders aren't interested in esthetics.

All times are GMT. The time now is 08:14 PM.
