Restaurant Mural?

I seem to recall someone here making a comment within an unrelated thread that some of their pictures had been used inside a restaurant for a mural. Was that these forums? Or somewhere else? I was hoping to see the finished product as I have been approached for something that sounds similiar to what I remember.

Amyone? Or am I remembering another post on another forum?

:) two second search:

Took me longer to write the thread. And then I find it and realize that's not exactly what the person who contacted me had in mind.

Doh!

But Brent and I were both contacted through Flickr!

I was also recently contact via Flickr by a group doing a book for the city of Akron, Ohio, entitled "Greater Akron." Trains Magazine has also contacted me via Flickr before. Another reason Flickr is the best.

I've been contacted a lot via Flickr. Practically all of my sales have started through there until I got my Fine Art America site.

How do people find your personal site?

If I may ask - who's the site sponsor? (Who hosts it, who does the prints?)
Whoops, I see it's "Fine Art America". How do you like it? I can't seem to locate
what they charge for images, only that "you get to keep the profit".

And, one observation - do you really want to be offering for sales photos of the model(s) you've taken?

Looks great, btw - the site, and Sheena Trammell.
(That should get you some additional hits, too, lol)

A class I railroad just bought some pictures I have on rp.net for decent money as a result of a "contact the photographer" email here. Overall I've made more money from contacts through rp.net than Flickr, but then I've never put as much on or as much work into Flickr. Flickr can be good but you have to put more work into it to build a network and socialize than simply putting pictures on rp.net (despite the screening process). I still see rp.net as being the number 1 "stock photography" site for general train pictures (as in the place people look the most for finding good train pictures). There are some great photographers on Flickr though, including many people who also post pictures here.

My 2 cents,
Michael

No, but this is cool, Travis. There's a place in Cayce, SC that should do one of my bridge shots like that!

Speaking of Flickr and Joe's shots: did you ever try to put this one on RP?

It would get rejected for "poor crop" since RP admin can't stomach a vertically centered subject.

Nice shot, though!

Joe - you never answered my question!

I never tried that shot, but maybe I'll go back to it. At the time, that was one of many good shots I got from a day and a half chasing the L&C and I felt that maybe my L&C saturation point was at a max. (Though it didn't stop me this weekend from sending in three cloudy/commons!

Mitch, the photographs of Sheena are my most viewed on both Flickr and FAA, but no one has ever bought one. At the time of the shoots with her, she and I had an agreement that we could use them as we saw fit. I gave her the CD with some high res versions of the shots. If nothing else, maybe they will draw some visitors to the site.

I did have one person e-mail me privately suggesting I take them down. I believe she called them "borderline perverted" and hinted that she may have been underage. She was actually 18 at the time of both shoots and her mother was at both shoot, her father at one of them and my wife was helping with the poses.

FAA prints some really excellent stuff. Two of the prints are in Lancaster in a gallery. I've got four total prints done myself through them and was very impressed, especially with the two metal prints.

I've never had a single sale from flickr, which I'm sure is a result of me not caring enough to put all the effort into doing what is required to be seen on flickr.

I do quite well with interest from RP, but nowhere near as lucrative as the blue demon that is facebook.

Hmm. Come to think of it, I might need to lay low on my Football posts on Facebook. I don't think I've made a sale through there.

Got to get at least one more dig on Dabo Swionney though.

bigbassloyd 12-09-2013 02:49 PM

That's why I keep my photography, and my personal page separate :D

Facebook = mad dollas yo
