How fast should the zoom be zoomed?
I knew this would be rejected but still tried my luck.

my rejected zoom pan shot here

This is my first attempt at a zoom pan which I have to say I am pretty pleased with but need to get the front a lot sharper next time I try.

Is there any method of obtaining a good zoom pan or is it just down to luck.

The shutter speed was I believe 1/10 and I tried to start the zooming just before I released the shutter. Am I on the right lines, another question is how fast should the zoom be zoomed?

Many thanks Mike

Shorter shutter speed will help, you have to much blur or time zoomed, you will just have to find out how fast to zoom to the speed of the train.

If it were me, I'd go out and practice on cars to get a feel for how the timing works...
