Railfanning on Thanksgiving
 

Anybody headed out today? I'm not.

was out this morning to catch a 9:07 passenger train, made for some neat shots in the fog. I was planning to go out again later but clouds have taken over.

Nope! Working! Etc! Have fun shooting trains!

Cloudy, little to no trains, no thank you. A turkey dinner is enough for me today!

The Class Is here are basically dead. A westbound intermodal lined up for more than 70 miles is about it out there today.

If I went out I could probably see a train or two, but I have better things to do so I will stay home for today.

I actually went out the second time, sun peeked through. Now that i'm home and done its bright and sunny, just my luck.

Nothing moving here today, so turkey and pumpkin pie it is. :)

Chase

All you are going to see is Amtrak unless you live in a major gateway city (New Orleans, Memphis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago), so its not worth the effort.

Whatever IS running will be the easiest trip for the crew all year, greens end to end most likely, lol...

only activity is the passenger trains, i'm done for today and turkey and pumpkin pie sounds quite good :lol:

Should have made the trek up to the Great North, we've had our Thanksgiving last month. North of the border it's business as usual except for the CN conductors' strike.

Trains were still moving on CN in the Detroit area - seemed like a typical Thursday.

CSX and NS were shut down here. I could have chased the LA&L but they may not have run either. I'm headed out to get some prints done at Wal Mart today and hopefully chase the Falls Road Railroad! Wish me luck...

Didn;t have any luck with FRR on Friday. Went over to visit another train buff and somehow managed to catch 2 Amtraks and one WB Ethanol train on CSx though. Today, however was a different story. In the three hours I was trackside I caught 11 freights and 2 amtrak trains. 2 freights had BNSF power and one had CP. Great day for me! I guess CSX had a lot of traffic to make up for!
