Very nice, Bart. It's always nice to see a departure from the relative norm.

Yours are a nice departure from the relative norm as well. Composition is key to a great photo and you are great with composition.

Here are my top viewed uploaded in 2005....

This one shows how a wreck will normally get more views than good photography.

[photoid=125395]

This was a shot I have tried before, with bad results. This particular day there were five trains lined up again, which happens fairly infrequently. The sun was about to go behind the clouds as I drove toward Dupo on the interstate. It was one of those "what the hell, why not?" shots. I figured if I got there before the sun went in the clouds, great, if not, oh well. The results turned out pretty good.

[photoid=119656]

Now, I'm not the first one to try this shot. I have done it several times, a few others have done it before me. For whatever reason, though, mine seemed to get a lot more views. Perhaps that is because I uploaded it very early in the morning. I've always wanted to perfect this shot and make it so the wheels are right on the top of the building. The trouble is that the property owners who own the parking lot from where this shot is taken don't really want people around, so I always make this one a quickie.

Here are my three:

[photoid=115425]

It's a thorn in the side that my top photo of '05 was UP, and alot of it at that with this 13 unit 'light' engine movement.

[photoid=115930]

Who knew a hi-railer could be so popular? The driver stopped as he rolled by me to see what I was doing and make sure I wasn't going to kill myself, delaying long enough to build a good amount of spacing between himself and the coal drag a little farther down the rails.

Hmmm, a week of vacation in Colorado and 2 of my most popular photos...could ND be that boring?!?

[photoid=113563]

Nothing like a complete moron to spruce up anotherwise boring wedgie. Thanks, dummy on the bike (and your friend too).

And while it wasn't taken in '05, this shot was uploaded in '05 after getting PS 6.0:

Yes, I did. But I live in a place that has no UP. I spend my hard-earned money to go away on vacation and the third train I see is a 13 unit UP engine move. I don't think '13' was a coincidence, either.

But for you, you are blessed to live in an area that sees all but one Class I (BNSF, UP, KCS, CN/IC, CSX, NS) plus you have the TRRA and the Budweiser RR, but yet for some reason, you voluntarily choose to chase after UP. It hurts the brain!

UP puts on more of a show than any of the others. It's hard to not drive 10 minutes knowing you will see a lot of action, rather than sitting on the BNSF line 5 minutes away that may see 3 trains during the course of the day. Plus, I like them, which probably willn't win me much praise here.

Ween 01-04-2006 08:51 PM

Yeah, UP at Dupo is a guarantee...for railfanning, it's sorta like the cheap man's version of cocaine...
