Besides trains, what else do you photograph?

for fun I mean. not family snapshots. not for work.

I do some closeups of flowers, but that's not too challenging.

I carry my camera around a fair bit of the time, but I don't pull it out too often. I might go out of town for work and take 2-3 pictures to show my kids.

I'm a fan of waterfalls, bridges, and abandoned buildings

Historical things, cars, and wildflowers.

Not for work? Uh...any photo I take that's not intended for sale is some sort of family snapshot...

General Nature, sunsets and so on.

I guess it all boils down to the simple fact that trains are the single best thing to photograph....well, maybe the second best thing.

For a couple years I tried to force myself to take pictures of something else besides trains so when people asked what I took pictures of I could say something beside just trains. In particular I was trying to impress girls by sounding arty. I really didn't enjoy taking pictures of anything else so I stopped. With that being said, I recently deployed to the Middle East and knowing it would be the only time I would ever go to alot of those places, I forced myself to take pictures. Looking back at them now I'm glad I took them. Some of them are actually pretty good. That being said, I still remember not really enjoying it at the time.

I didn't enjoy it there either. Nobody I know liked it there.

Military aircraft and warships of any vintage.

I rarely tell people that I photograph trains when I'm asked (which is quite often). I usually tell them "landscape photography and whatever catches my eyes." So much easier that way than to try to explain to people such a geeky hobby.

Sunrises, sunsets, abandoned buildings, old cars, the moon, landscape.. Just about anything that can't talk back to you.

Fish and classic muscle cars.

Ships, travel photography, landscapes, aircraft, weather, dramatic sea or skyscapes (in my dreams). Grandkids !
